Big Tidy Up

Tameside MBC is spending £1million on their Big Tidy Up pledge across Tameside town centres and Stalybridge will be the first town to benefit starting on Monday 14th September 2015.

An Improvement Zone in the Town Centre has been established by the Council and as part of the Big Tidy Up the following examples of work have been identified…….

  • Footway improvements.

  • Carriageway improvements.

  • Decluttering of street furniture.

  • Removal of street furniture surplus to requirements.

  • Bin audit.

  • White lining and anti skid.

  • Detailed highway cleansing and spot weeding.

  • Painting of street furniture.

The actual timing of the programme of works for Stalybridge is as follows:-

Week commencing 14th September:

Detailed cleansing and spot weeding (follow up visit 28th), street lighting works, removal of non-decorative brackets, jet washing of Civic areas (Armentieres Square, Grosvenor Street, Melbourne Street).

Week commencing 21st September:

Footway works (Grosvenor Street).

Week commencing 28th September:

Footway works (Waterloo Road).

Week commencing 5th October:

Rest of the civils works.

Week commencing 12th October:

Lamp column painting to start.

Week commencing 19th October:

General painting to commence.

Week commencing 26th October:

All painting to be completed, anti skid and white lining works.

Week commencing 9th November:

All works in Stalybridge to be completed by.
