Christmas Candle, 5th December 2013

GOODNIGHT STALYBRIDGE......

Today I called in to see Mr Ryan Carter, proprietor of Shoe Tree Dance Centre on Grosvenor Street and host for the Stalybridge Christmas Candle today. We reminisced about times gone by in Stalybridge and the old square where Grosvenor House and the shops beneath once stood.

Ryan's father, Bob Carter, opened the original Shoe Tree within that very complex in 1974 just a few doors up from where my grandma, Marion Wilde, had Wilde's Cafe.

Shoe Tree moved to its current location at 27 Grosvenor Street around 14 years ago.

At around that time you would have found Ryan constructing snowmen on the street with the girl from Cutting Edge hair salon. Think you may have the opportunity to do that again very soon Mr Carter!

Friday tomorrow people, may you have the best of days. Don't forget to come and see us in the town over the weekend for your shopping. You'd be surprised at how much you save sometimes on your high street!

Sleep well Stalybridge.
